I tried to add a waypoint into my next leg while navigating and had to stop navigating, edit the leg, start navigating again. Would have been good if if I could just drag an extra point just as in planning mode.

Long press on the waypoint you wish to add and then tap the waypoint in the dialogue box that pops up and then another dialogue box will pop up with various options amongst which are:- Append to Route, Insert in Route and Route Direct. Tap the option of choice and you're done.
